Neptune's Courtroom
Hurricane Fischer is gone. Between moving, getting married, and a new job, I just couldn't find the time to dedicate to writing that I had hoped. But not to fear! I've incorporated the posts from Hurricane Fischer into my new blog, Neptune's Courtroom.
I envision this blog as being a bit more personal with both long and short form posts. It will be a mixture of Instagram posts from my morning runs, tech tips, thoughts on politics, and my venture into actually joining a yacht club and getting back on the water. Who knows...there might be some short story fiction if I get into a NaNoWriMo mood and possibly some book and movie reviews.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Yep, I'm Still Here
That's right. I'm still here. Still sailing. Just relocated down south.
Been sailing with a bunch of cool folks down in New Orleans for Wednesday Nights as well as some weekend races on a 40.7 Beneteau. I've been experimenting with not only taking pictures but also some short videos (via the Vine app if you're familiar). Hopefully you'll enjoy.
I'm on twitter way more than I post here so feel free to hit me up there. There aren't nearly enough sailors on there yet as my2fish and Tillerman can attest.

Close But No Cigar
I went out sailing with my Dad last night on the last "Summer" evening for 2010 and boy was it gorgeous out! Winds were 8-10 with gusts up to 13 knots just as the sun was setting. Perfect wind direction too. 1 gybe total: out and back. No tacks. Hard to beat that.
Just as we were coming in, so was a pretty hefty thunderstorm. A lot of visible lightning.
We came in early enough but we were still out a bit longer than expected so we didn't get to smoke the cigars I brought for the occasion which was a bummer. We'll just have to save them for next time...

My First Post
Hey all.
Welcome to Captain's Black's Sea Chronicles. I've laid out a bit of what you're going to get by reading/following these chronicles to let you know where all of this is headed and also, to keep me focused.
What You're Going to Get: This is basically going to be about me and my sailing adventures.
That includes my continuing work towards my captain's license, my weekend outings out on the Chesapeake and connected waterways, possibly some Wednesday & Sunday night races (if I can work out some type of deal at work to leave early on Wednesdays), repair/general work notes, maybe a bit about shipping, sailing related thoughts and musings, my inevitable attempts to buy a boat, prep work for my circumnavigation and eventually the log entries of my circumnavigation.
I have a lot to do so there is no time like now, the beginning of sailing season 2010, to get started.
